| It seems to be people or bots who are registering and then sending PM's out to the membership.. The latest is "MichaelTracy" who is sending out the spam. He has the same webmail address as the last guy. |

This is happening all over the place, just Google the website name and look how many forums it's showing up in--looks like hundreds.
Banning the user does not work, apparently, but IP banning had some success. McKaffee had a report from 2009 on their site, saying some of servebbs.org's affiliates, including best-malware-cleaner.com or something like that had been flagged for phishing and downloading trojans/backdoors.
Just how many trojans are we talking about? Well, McKaffee reported over 170.
So yeah, don't hit the link sent to you in the PM.

We've disabled PM's for the time being until this can be resolved by an upgrade to our captcha.

I admin several boards we were hit badly in the last weeks. The only way I found to get rid of this was on VBulletin, by adding a mod that restricts sending PMs to only users who have at least x posts. _________________ Chacal

Hi,
If this is still happening, you might wanna try implementing something like what we've got over at the CT forums:
I used to have it just list the math problem with numbers and symbols, but then bots started registering again....but I think it's been at least a year or two with almost no spam registrations since I changed it to full text.
At any rate, the standard phpBB2 CAPTCHA has been ineffective for eons. _________________

Sorry for that question here but, it looks like this is the only place where some members are active, so:
When I start Battlefield Pirates 2 and switch to multiplayer, i can see a few servers, but all are empty. Is there no one who still plays that mod? Maybe i did something wrong...
I really like that mod, but its boring against bots. Help :( _________________ Skype: festus314 |

Normally a few on at the weekend, but yea not many play, which is a shame, but hopefully when new patch is out (very soon), few more will start playing. _________________
